Why Do I Need a Merlin CD?
|
- "Techie" Expertise - You have the expertise to load our CD
onto a computer of your choice to make a Merlin Server.
- Cost - This is the cheapest way to get a Merlin server! Just
pay us for the software. You take care of the hardware.
- Privacy concerns - by having your own server, you (and nobody
else) can control the content. You own the machine and the contents. The data
is completely under your control.
- Routing/Firewall - Merlin is also a router. So connect Merlin
to your Internet and run multiple workstations on a local network behind
Merlin. Then turn Merlin's firewall on to protect your local workstations.
- VPN - With the VPN (Virtual Private Network) module activated,
you can use your Merlin server to create a secure tunnel to remote
offices.
|
| Hardware |
You choose the hardware. We recommend, as a minimum:
- CPU - not less than a 1.0 ghz Intel Pentium 4
- RAM - not less than 512 MB
- Disk Drive - not less than 40 GB
- Disk Controller - IDE
- Interfaces - 2 Ethernet 10/100 mbps
|
| Software |
Our CD include all of the following. You do not need any other
operating system. Our CD will install it all!
- The Merlin Application Suite.
Merlin modules can be activated as needed.
- One System Administrator Client Account - to run your web site,
store, discussion forum, calendar, etc.
- Optional activation for multiple Client and Sub-client accounts.
- The dBop 2.1 Web Server.
- MultiBase/BX 1.02 scripting and operating environment.
- Linux/BX Operating System.

|
Where Do I Put This Server?
|
You can place this server in:
- Your Office - With a DSL, Cable, or High-speed Internet connection and a static IP, you can run your Merlin server in the safest
possible environment - your home or office.
- With an ISP - Most ISP (Internet Service Providers) will
host your server in a secure environment with a fast connection to the
Internet.
